Tongkat Ali

Tongkat Ali, scientifically known as Eurycoma Longfolia, is a small flowering plant belonging to Simaroubaceae family and native to Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. Tongkat in Malay means stick and Ali refers to God; so that the term indicates the plan to be a stick of God. Another popular name of the plant is Penawar Pahit, which translates simply as "bitter charm or medicine". Different parts of the plant have been traditionally used as antimalarial, antidiabetic, antimicrobial and antipyretic medicine, including aphrodisiac activities and a dietary supplement. It has also been used as food and drink additive, specially coffee and functional beverage positioned as energy drinks.
